Exhibition at Kabuso, Øystese, May - August 2026


The summer exhibition at Kabuso art centre, Øystese, Hardanger from 16 May to 30 August 2026.
Paintings by Jon Arne Mogstad, video and digital graphics by Jeremy Welsh and textiles by Kari Dyrdal. See more information at the Kabuso website.

All three artists are showing work that takes water as a starting point. Reflections, ripples, currents, the play of light on water's surface, flows and frozen moments.

Jeremy Welsh's videos are based on material mostly recorded at various locations in Hardanger between 2008 - 2026. Sound in the installation was recorded on site in Øystese during the installing of the exhibition. The audio is played from one video source only, but is not synchronous with any of the screens. It is intended as an ambience that permeates the installation.

The video element in the exhibition consists of two works. Flow (2026) is a single screen remix of materials used in a number of previous installations, combined with new footage shot around Øystese in May 2026. Flow II is a double screen installation, shown here on two flat screen tv's. Alternatively the work could be shown on a larger scale as a double projection. It's placing in the gallery creates a dialogue between the video and the nearby paintings and textiles of Mogstad and Dyrdal. Although none of the work here is collaborative, all three are familiar with each other's work and have followed similar interests in the development of their pieces.

Works in progress spring 2026.

Preparations are under way for this spring's exhibition at Kabuso in Øystese, Hardanger. It will be a three person show, together with Kari Dyrdal (textiles) and Jon Arne Mogstad (painting). My part of the exhibition will feature digital prints, silkscreen prints and video on flat screens. There will also be a large screen projection in the gallery's auditorium and on the opening day this will be accompanied by live sound created together with electronic musician Tijs Ham. Aside from the works created for this exhibition, production carries on in the studio, at present focussing on a series of mixed media works on paper, collectively entitled Breaking Waves. The series is a continuation of a work made for exhibition in 2025, "Song of Iron", a set of two large prints that combine digital print and silk screen. The basis for the series is a sound wave image which formed the top layer of the Song of Iron prints.  What it has been / What it shall become.  Set of 4 digital...
